I remember this place. My cousins (the Pasaportes) used to go to this chapel. They were quite active in their church community. I remember the San Roque icon in red garb. There used to be a fiesta held in his honor and it was quite a feast to attend it. My cousins baked the best cakes.

Every Good Friday, we attended the Stations of the Cross held here. I remembered the rugged roads where we knelt and prayed as we went. There were lots of people who attended it. It started from the Cathedral going up to the topmost of the PC Hill where it ended. Do they still do it?
My siblings and I used to up the hill (not quite inhabited yet) to explore caves (hoping to find treasures), catch butterfies, pick wild berries and simply to view the beautiful town of Cotabato (before it became a city) from the top of the hill. There used to be a PC Hill Elementary school. Is it still there?

This church is very beautiful. We used to go to this church at least twice a week. The boys and girls were seated separately. That was then. I don't know how it is now. I used to light candles outside in the candle house. It was a separate small, square cinder block building just for lighting candles. I am glad they had good forsight: the whole church would have gone down in flames a long time ago had they not foreseen it! The lighting of the candles used to be inside the church before they had built the candle house. I still remember the the big icon of Jesus Christ on the cross. I used to kiss the feet of JC and it smelled so good with sampaguita. I wonder if it is still there. Anyone?

My sisters and girl cousins graduated from this school. It was very strict then. Mother Socorro was feared. We were very religious and of course, our generation were older and grew in a very strict and watched environment. Hard to talk to boys although we had our crushes. No physical contact though.

We used to live inside the CoLight compund until 1957. Our dad rworked for many years and retired from this company. The company had an ice plant that sold and delivered ice to customers, as well as crushed ice to fish vendors to keep their catch fresh till sundown. My siblings and I would pick fruits (papaya, banana, balimbing, malunggay, pineapple, etc) grown inside the compund. I used to remember Mr Aboitiz (the company owner) coming into town and stayed in his hilltop home run by Nang Tiqia (the resident housekeeper with her husband). I remember the neighbors Anagarans. He used to be the boss of CoLight. Thanks Wikimapia!!!
